Breakfast at the hotel. After a guided visit, the tour continues to an experience kayaking among the mangroves in Muyil (aprox 25min drive), with opportunities for observing crocodiles and several bird species. Continue towards Chichen Itza (aprox 2:30hr drive), for an overnight in a hotel right next to the archaeological site.

Breakfast at the hotel. Having spent the night so close to the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, you will arrive early in the site, before the big crowds coming from Cancun and Riviera Maya arrive. Learn about this magnificent site, and about the Mayan people knowledge of the stars and universe, about numbers and architecture, and their history, culture, and beliefs. Following the visit to Chichen Itza, the tour goes on to the Yokdzonot cenote (aprox 30min drive), a naturally occurring lime-stone sinkhole with refreshing crystal waters, for a swim and lunch. Continue to Merida for a three-night stay (aprox 90min drive).

Accommodation at El Castellano; breakfast and lunch included today

After breakfast at the hotel we head East to the coast in the Gulf of Mexico to visit Celestun (aprox 90min drive), a natural protected area where flamingoes, roseate spoonbills, among other birds and crocodiles, thrive in a natural environment. The experience includes kayaking in the estuary for opportunities to spot different fauna (not guaranteed), accompanied by a guide specialized in nature. Back in Merida, we will enjoy the beautiful, colonial White City during a guided city tour, followed by a walking food tour hitting the truly local spots. The rest of the evening is at leisure.
